Kingston upon Thames is a Royal Borough with a housing mix that runs from Victorian and Edwardian terraces around Norbiton and Canbury, through interwar semis, to riverside and town-centre properties near the market and the Hogsmill. A lot of those older homes still have their original lead supply pipes in the ground, and that is the work we are most often called out for. We have carried out both lead pipe replacement and full water main replacement across Kingston, and we cover the surrounding areas too, including Surbiton, New Malden and across towards Richmond.
Wherever you are in the borough, the method is the same. We dig two small access pits, one near the boundary stop tap and one near the property, then drive an impact mole through the ground between them and pull a new MDPE supply pipe in behind it. Your driveway, lawn, patio and paving stay intact, and most Kingston jobs are completed in a single day.

Paul was great. Fitted me in last minute. Really professional and personable. Very good price and very efficient. All done in 5 hours. Nothing was too much hassle even when I changed my mind for the stop cock location after the pipe was already run. They also ran a temporary connection back to the current mains water location under the stairs as this will be relocated by my plumber at a later date to the new stop cock location. They even left my front garden tidier than when they started :) Would recommend highly. I received my certificate of install the same day and they can connect directly to the water meter as they are WIAPS approved so no need to wait for thames water final connections.+12Posted on Google![]()

Highly experienced and friendly company, a pleasure to deal with. We had an external lead water pipe that needed replacing, found this company via Google search and they got back to our web form submission super quickly to agree on a quote and timing. Arrived on time, completed the repairs, put everything back in place (patio tiles etc) meticulously once the works were completed and provided the works certificate promptly. Thanks again to the team at T&L.Posted on Google![]()

Minimal mess & no trenches

Friendly, professional service

Trenchless moling is a no-dig way of replacing a buried water supply pipe, and it suits Kingston’s mix of tight terraced frontages and riverside plots well. Rather than open a trench across a tiled Victorian path or a town-centre forecourt, we dig two small pits, one near the boundary stopcock and one where the pipe enters the property, then drive an impact mole through the ground between them and pull a new MDPE pipe behind it. The chalk-and-clay ground that gives Kingston its hard water is exactly the heavy going that makes open trenching slow, so moling between two small pits is usually the cleaner option. The old lead pipe is disconnected at both ends and left in place, and the route in between is left exactly as it was.

Kingston’s water is supplied by Thames Water and runs very hard, at around 284 ppm as calcium carbonate, drawn from the chalk and clay of the London Basin. The lead in tap water, though, comes from the old pipe itself, dissolving into water that has been standing overnight in an ageing lead supply line. With so much of Kingston’s Victorian, Edwardian and interwar housing still on its original supply pipes, there are a lot of those lines still in daily use.
Most Kingston homeowners get in touch after one of these:
