We’re T&L Moling Contractors, WIAPS-registered specialists in trenchless water supply pipe replacement across Horley and the RH6 postcode. Horley grew up as a London commuter town, so most of the homes we work on were built after 1950, in neighbourhoods like Meath Green, Court Lodge and Langshott, often still on their original lead or galvanised supply pipes.
Older Victorian pockets around Horley Row and Church Road are on lead too, and the heavy Weald Clay under the whole town makes open trenching slow work.

Horley is a 20th-century commuter town at heart. The railway turned a small Weald village into a dormitory town for London, and the bulk of the housing went up in the building waves that followed: Meath Green and Court Lodge largely in the 1950s and 60s, Haroldslea’s Limes Avenue laid out in the 1930s, then large modern estates like The Acres and West Vale Park added from 2010 onwards. Older Victorian and medieval stock survives around Horley Row and Church Road, both conservation areas, where original lead service lines are common. That spread of eras, from interwar semis to postwar estates to listed cottages, is exactly the kind of network we replace lead and galvanised supply pipes on.
Whichever part of Horley you’re in, the method is the same. We dig two small access pits, one near the boundary stop tap and one where the pipe enters the house, then drive a mole between them and pull a new MDPE supply pipe through behind it. Your driveway, lawn and paving stay intact, and most jobs are finished in a single day.

Paul was great. Fitted me in last minute. Really professional and personable. Very good price and very efficient. All done in 5 hours. Nothing was too much hassle even when I changed my mind for the stop cock location after the pipe was already run. They also ran a temporary connection back to the current mains water location under the stairs as this will be relocated by my plumber at a later date to the new stop cock location. They even left my front garden tidier than when they started :) Would recommend highly. I received my certificate of install the same day and they can connect directly to the water meter as they are WIAPS approved so no need to wait for thames water final connections.+12Posted on Google![]()

Highly experienced and friendly company, a pleasure to deal with. We had an external lead water pipe that needed replacing, found this company via Google search and they got back to our web form submission super quickly to agree on a quote and timing. Arrived on time, completed the repairs, put everything back in place (patio tiles etc) meticulously once the works were completed and provided the works certificate promptly. Thanks again to the team at T&L.Posted on Google![]()

Minimal mess & no trenches

Friendly, professional service

In a town like Horley, where almost the entire area sits on heavy Weald Clay, trenchless moling is a far better fit than open trenching for replacing a buried supply pipe. The Low Weald clay is impermeable and poorly draining, so it turns sticky and waterlogged in wet weather, which makes a traditional trench slow to dig, messy to spoil away and slow to reinstate. With moling we avoid almost all of that. We excavate two small pits, one near the boundary stopcock and one near the property, then drive an impact mole through the ground between them and pull a new MDPE pipe along behind it. The old lead pipe is disconnected at both ends and left in the ground, and the clay route between the pits is never opened up. On a saturated Weald Clay garden in Horley, leaving that ground undisturbed is the single biggest practical advantage of the no-dig approach.

Horley sits in the SES Water supply territory, drawing from chalk and Lower Greensand aquifers that make the water very hard. Adjacent SES zones at Redhill and Reigate read around 280 ppm as calcium carbonate, and Horley is reliably hard on the same network. The lead in tap water comes from the old pipe itself, dissolving into water that has been standing overnight in an ageing lead supply line, so the original lead lines still in service under Horley’s older and postwar homes are the ones worth replacing.
Most Horley homeowners get in touch after one of these:
