What is Moling?
If you’ve never had moling done before, here’s how it works on a typical Guildford property. Moling (also called trenchless pipe installation) is a no-dig method of running a new underground pipe along the same path as an old one — without trenching across your garden or driveway. We dig two small pits: one near your boundary stopcock and another near where the supply pipe enters your home. An impact mole — essentially a pneumatic underground tool — is then driven from one pit to the other, pulling the new MDPE pipe behind it. Once it’s through, we disconnect the old lead pipe at both ends and switch your supply over to the new one. Block paving, gravel, lawn and tarmac driveways along the pipe run stay completely undisturbed.
