We’re T&L Moling Contractors, WIAPS-registered specialists in trenchless water supply pipe replacement across Frensham and the wider GU10 postcodes, from the village core around St Mary the Virgin to Millbridge, Shortfield Common and Rushmoor. This is a low-density village of detached homes and old cottages, much of it inside the Surrey Hills, where digging up a long drive or garden is the last thing anyone wants.
Moling lets us renew the supply pipe without that disruption.

Frensham is a rural conservation village rather than a town of dense streets. Roughly 80% of the parish sits within the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, much of it is Green Belt, and there are two conservation areas covering the village itself and Millbridge with its ten listed buildings. The housing is overwhelmingly detached, set behind long gravel drives and mature gardens across Shortfield Common, Spreakley, Dockenfield, Rushmoor and Lower Bourne. On properties like these, a supply pipe can run a long way from the boundary, often under landscaping the owner has spent years getting right, which is precisely where trenchless moling earns its place over open trenching.
The method is straightforward. We dig two small access pits, one near the boundary stop tap and one near the house, then drive an impact mole through the ground between them and pull a new MDPE supply pipe through behind it. The old lead pipe is disconnected at both ends and left in the ground. Your drive, lawn and planting stay intact, and most domestic jobs are completed in a single day.

Paul was great. Fitted me in last minute. Really professional and personable. Very good price and very efficient. All done in 5 hours. Nothing was too much hassle even when I changed my mind for the stop cock location after the pipe was already run. They also ran a temporary connection back to the current mains water location under the stairs as this will be relocated by my plumber at a later date to the new stop cock location. They even left my front garden tidier than when they started :) Would recommend highly. I received my certificate of install the same day and they can connect directly to the water meter as they are WIAPS approved so no need to wait for thames water final connections.+12Posted on Google![]()

We had an external lead water pipe that needed replacing, found this company via Google search and they got back to our web form submission super quickly to agree on a quote and timing. Arrived on time, completed the repairs, put everything back in place (patio tiles etc) meticulously once the works were completed and provided the works certificate promptly. Thanks again to the team at T&L.Posted on Google![]()

Moling is a no-dig way of installing a new water supply pipe along the line of an old one. In Frensham, where homes sit on the freely-draining sandy, acidic soils of the Lower Greensand that give Frensham Common its heathland, and where supply runs often cross long drives, fields and carefully kept gardens, this is the sensible method. A traditional trench would mean cutting a channel across all of that surface and reinstating it afterwards. Instead, we excavate two small pits, one near the boundary stop tap and one where the pipe enters the property, and drive a mole machine through the soil between them to create a bore. A new MDPE pipe is pulled in behind it, then connected and pressure-tested. The old lead pipe is disconnected at both ends and stays buried. For a protected, rural village like Frensham, leaving the ground between the two pits undisturbed is the whole point.

Drinking water in Frensham is supplied by South East Water, which classifies its supply across the region as hard. Readings for the wider Farnham and GU10 area sit around 273 to 280 ppm, at the hard to very-hard boundary. (Wastewater here is handled separately by Thames Water.) The lead in tap water comes from the old pipe itself, dissolving into water that has been standing in an ageing lead supply line overnight.
Frensham’s older cottages and its mid-20th-century detached housing can still carry original lead or galvanised supply lines, and replacing them with modern MDPE removes that source for good. Most Frensham homeowners get in touch after one of these:
Replacing the lead supply pipe with MDPE by moling is the standard fix, and on most Frensham properties it’s a single-day job that leaves your drive and garden as we found them.
