We’re T&L Moling Contractors, WIAPS-registered specialists in trenchless water supply pipe replacement across Aylesbury and the HP19 to HP22 postcodes, including Bedgrove, Walton Court, Queens Park and Hawkslade. Aylesbury sits on the Vale’s heavy Gault clay, with the chalk Chilterns rising to the south-east, and that ground makes no-dig moling a much better fit than open trenching.

Aylesbury is mostly a post-1950s town. It expanded fast under the London overspill scheme, and the bulk of its housing dates from that wave: the late-1950s and 1960s Bedgrove estate, post-war Quarrendon, interwar Southcourt and 1970s Walton Court (with the privately owned western half rebranded Hawkslade). The exception is Walton, the historic core south of Bear Brook, occupied since at least the 12th century and now a conservation area. That mix of mid-century estates and a heritage-protected pocket is exactly the kind of older lead and galvanised supply pipe we are registered to replace.
Wherever you are in Aylesbury, the method is the same. We dig two small access pits, one near the boundary stop tap and one where the pipe enters the property, then drive a mole between them and pull a new MDPE pipe through behind it. Your driveway, lawn and any block paving stay intact, and we reinstate both pits to their original condition. Most residential jobs are completed in a single day, ready for the water company to make the final connection.

Paul was great. Fitted me in last minute. Really professional and personable. Very good price and very efficient. All done in 5 hours. Nothing was too much hassle even when I changed my mind for the stop cock location after the pipe was already run. They also ran a temporary connection back to the current mains water location under the stairs as this will be relocated by my plumber at a later date to the new stop cock location. They even left my front garden tidier than when they started :) Would recommend highly. I received my certificate of install the same day and they can connect directly to the water meter as they are WIAPS approved so no need to wait for thames water final connections.+12Posted on Google![]()

Highly experienced and friendly company, a pleasure to deal with. We had an external lead water pipe that needed replacing, found this company via Google search and they got back to our web form submission super quickly to agree on a quote and timing. Arrived on time, completed the repairs, put everything back in place (patio tiles etc) meticulously once the works were completed and provided the works certificate promptly. Thanks again to the team at T&L.Posted on Google![]()

Minimal mess & no trenches

Trenchless moling is a no-dig way of replacing a buried water supply pipe, and on the Vale of Aylesbury’s Gault clay it has a clear advantage. Open trenching through this heavy, tenacious clay is wet, slow work that produces a lot of spoil and a long reinstatement queue, and the clay’s shrink-swell behaviour makes a backfilled trench harder to settle cleanly. With moling, we excavate two small pits, one near the boundary stopcock and one near the point of entry, then drive an impact mole through the ground between them. A new MDPE pipe is pulled in behind the mole, and the old lead or galvanised pipe is disconnected at both ends and left in the ground. Inside, we fit a new stopcock assembly with a double check valve and a drain-off point. The clay between the two pits is never opened, which on an Aylesbury site is the main reason homeowners choose this method.

Most of Aylesbury town is supplied by Thames Water, which sits in its named Slough, Wycombe and Aylesbury resource zone. The supply is largely drawn from the chalk groundwater of the Chilterns, and as a result the water is very hard, typically around 270 to 300 mg/l of calcium carbonate. The lead in tap water comes from the old pipe rather than the supply, dissolving into water that has stood overnight in an ageing lead or galvanised line. With so much of the town’s pre-1970s housing still on its original lead or galvanised supply lines, that is a meaningful risk.
If you are right on the south-eastern HP22 edge towards Wendover or Halton, your supplier may be Affinity Water rather than Thames Water, so it is worth a quick postcode check. Most Aylesbury homeowners get in touch after one of these:
